Overview
The Accounts Receivable/Bookkeeper is an important part of RNS. The incumbent is an organized, task-oriented accounting specialist who works collaboratively with others and is responsible for managing financial records, overseeing accounts receivables and payables, and ensuring accurate financial transactions across varied properties and systems.
Primary Responsibilities
Maintain employee records and payroll information
Accurate preparation of financial reports on a regular and timely basis
Prepare bank reconciliation and arrears management
Collaborate with other departments
Collect, sort and record invoices and inspect for accuracy
Online payments and regular cheque runs
Reconciliation of cheques and invoices
Verify and process employee expenses and vendor accounts
Month-end reporting
Ensure all books of accounts, records and statements are up to date and available to the auditor when requested
Exercise a high degree of confidentiality, discretion and tact in all aspects of the role
Assist in preparation of annual audits as directed by the auditors
Excellent customer service skills
Respond to correspondence from members and stakeholders
Ensure operations are running smoothly
Attend meetings as required
Reception relief as required
Qualifications
- Post-secondary in administration, accounting or related field, or combination of work experience and education
- Solid understanding of accounting principles and practices
- Experienced with Sage 300 ERP or another accounting software program, would be an asset
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and financial record-keeping
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work efficiently within provided time-lines
- Proficient with accounting software, MS Office Suite, including Excel
- Creative, thoughtful and positive team player
- Possess a welcoming and friendly manner both in person and on the phone
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to effectively engage with students, parents, faculty, staff, alumni and visitors to the school
- Ability to work independently and take initiative
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and interact in a professional manner
- High-level of organizational and time management skills and able to multitask in a high traffic reception/lobby area working environment
- Demonstrate punctuality, timeliness and a strong work ethic
