The school dining hall is a place where social skills can be developed. Table manners will be outlined with all students each fall term. Students are then expected to uphold these manners which are a part of the tradition of RNS.
Boarders are encouraged to follow a well-balanced diet, and therefore must attend breakfast and dinner, as well as lunch. Attendance is required at these meals. Day students eat lunch along with boarding students and faculty; they may also attend breakfast and dinner.
During the week, lunch is a formal, family-style meal and that sees the entire student body, faculty, and staff, eat together. All students must attend lunch and are assigned seats, with a Prefect sitting at each table. School announcements are made and mail is given out during this meal. Grace is said at the beginning and end of each meal.
Through the week and on weekends, breakfast and dinner are served cafeteria style, with students being able to dress in good, casual clothing. On Sundays, boarders sit down to a family-style dinner.
